Hard Pass by Sara Ney

 Hard Pass (Trophy Boyfriends #1)

4 Stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

“Hard pass.”
That’s what the last girl I slept with said when she got her first sober glimpse of me. She laughed, walked out of my penthouse—and I never saw her again. It doesn’t matter that I’m a rich, professional athlete; what mattered was my face. Beauty might only be skin deep for some—but I know better.

“Pay up.”
That’s what the last girl I spoke to said over the phone when I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse. Desperate to sell a set of rare baseball cards, she’s clever and entertaining. I’m instantly smitten, but nowhere ready to reveal myself. Thank god she has no idea who I am—or what I look like.
I’m a professional athlete--how hard can playing the love game be?

Is there anything better than a sports romance? Noah was such an endearing character. It was a nice change of pace. Sara Ney is always a favorite of mine, but I am excited to see where she takes this series.

Harley Merlin By: Bella Forrest

OVERALL SERIES 4 STARS

Goodreads Synopsis (from book 1):

When a rogue 19-year-old witch is recruited to help guard an ancient magical Bestiary, a breath-stealing journey begins...
Being an empath has its advantages.

Harley Merlin can sense people’s emotions, among other things. It’s how she snagged her first job pinpointing cheaters at a casino.

But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note.

Then she crosses paths with a terrifyingly real monster. Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets—as well as clues about her murky past.

Whether she likes it or not, this new world is where she belongs. But after a disturbing twist of events, Harley quickly realizes that her past is darker than she could ever have imagined.

And that someone in the coven is out for her blood.

With the help of Wade and her new friends, she must figure out who the traitor is and why they’re targeting her... Before the human and magical worlds dangerously collide.

This is such a fun series. I was looking for something new and different and this series definitely delivered. My favorite thing about this series was comradery between the main characters. If you are looking for something with Magic that will transport you to a different world this is a goodie.

Be My Brayshaw By Meagan Brandy

BE MY BRAYSHAW (BRAYSHAW HIGH #4)

5 STARS

Synopsis from Goodreads:

“Cross one, cross all.”

That’s the Brayshaw way.

She should have realized this before sliding into our world with secrets too big to bury.
She didn’t and now the target is on her back.

The day her lies came crashing down, I should have forced her out.
Instead, I locked her in, and with the promise I would never be hers.

I resisted, fought against us.
I caved.

I tasted what became my newfound favorite flavor and fell hard for the little liar.

But then the depth of her treachery reveals itself, and with it a reminder.

Our town is a twisted place, and with truth comes trouble.

In the blink of an eye, my world is split at its core, and I’m faced with an impossible decision, one that leads to a single outcome...

Betrayal.--
This is Captain Brayshaws book and the fourth book in the Brayshaw series.

I am emotionally raw with this one. I want to start by stating I DON'T CRY. Not that there is anything wrong with crying. It just isn't something I feel the need to do. Usually once or twice a year...well 'Be My Brawshaw' has used up my crying quota for the next I don't know three years maybe?! I am also going to say that if you have not read book 1-3 yet please stop reading here...because although I am not about to issue any spoilers I also don't want to give anything away....

Okay so if you are still with me can I just say that I wasn't sure it was possible but Victoria...Oh Victoria. You may just be my favorite heroine of all time. I am not stating that lightly either. But wow oh wow did I just FEEL her. Maybe it is the mom in me...but I connected on a different level with her. The entire storyline was breathtaking. I couldn't read for 2 weeks after this book. Not that I didn't try, but nothing else measured up. I thought the book hangover from the first three books was terrible, but nothing like this. And oh sweet sweet Zoey. The only thing I can say about this is there are no words, and you will understand once you read it.

Lastly, the end scene with Royce...I cannot wait!

Big Pickle By: JJ Knight

 Big Pickle By: JJ Knight

4 Stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

He’s kind of a big dill.
An enemies-to-lovers, secret boss, gut-splittingly hilarious rom com from USA Today bestselling author J.J. Knight.

They call me Big Pickle.
It’s not what you think.
(Although that’s true too.)

I happen to be the oldest Pickle in the family deli business. And we have the best salami.

Take that one however you like.

But when my father announces the franchise will go to the most profitable of the three brothers, I learn that even though I’m the biggest Pickle, I’m dead last.

I hightail it to Texas to see what’s happened to my restaurant, only to find a sassy little spitfire named Nova Strong in charge.

She’s amazing. She’s sexy. She’s perfectly happy to call bullsh*t when she sees it.

But despite the way we nearly melt the permafrost in the industrial freezer, I have to control myself. Nova thinks I'm a new employee. She has no idea I’m only there to spy.

Or that I'm her boss.

As I get to the bottom of why my franchise is failing, I desperately need to know one thing:

Is Nova Strong everything wrong with my deli, or everything right for me?

Let the hilariousness ensue. I legit laughed out loud with this one. I am so hoping that JJ writes stories for the rest of the brothers because that is something I can get behind.

Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy

BOYS OF BRAYSHAW HIGH (BRAYSHAW HIGH #1)

4.5 STARS

Synopsis from Goodreads:

"Girls like you aren't exactly welcomed at a place like this, so keep your head down and look the other way."

Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for "troubled teens".

I didn't listen, and now I'm on their radar.

They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they've deemed me fit.

Too bad for them, I don't follow rules.
Too bad for me, they're determined to make sure I do.

Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings...these are the boys of Brayshaw High.

And I'm the girl who got in their way.

This was the second book I read from Meagan Brandy, and boy it didn't disappoint. When I read the synopsis my first thought was "this isn't my type of book"...but holy cannoli was I wrong! This book sucked me in right away. I'm not going to lie I read the entire first three books in a matter of 2 days and I didn't sleep. The story was addictive and so much WTF is happening. It was the ultimate roller coaster and I was legit hooked. I am sorry for all of my fellow bloggers for doubting you. It won't happen again. My only regret is that it took me so long to read this. I will undoubtedly reread this series right before the 5th installment in released this fall. Book 2 & 3 were incredible, but book 4 was my absolute favorite. I will be writing another post dedicated strictly to Captain...but for NOW back to Raven and Maddox. What can I even say about this one?? It was honestly hauntingly beautiful. So much damage and so much love. All of the things. Standouts:
The cabin Scene
Graven
WTF Raven's mom is a psycho bitch
Raven you are a badass
Maddox I love you
My advice...clear your calendar to binge this series because I'm in love. Also buy all the wine, because the only thing that will make this book hangover better is alcohol.
Also Book 3 Cover Art is FIRE. That is all.

Meghan Quinn's new one!! Cover Reveal

THE MODERN GENTLEMAN by Meghan Quinn
Release Date: May 14th
Genre: Contemporary Romance
PRE ORDER HERE:     Kindle of The Modern Gentleman

Synopsis from Kindle:

Have you ever hit rock bottom?

I embarrassingly have.

It’s why I’m wearing my girl's decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.

This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.

Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.

Heard it before? I'm sure you have.

So what's so different about this story? Well, it's about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City's top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinly polished pedestal.

It's about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wing-tipped shoes in love.

This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

Stealing My Best Friend by Summer Brooks

STEALING MY BEST FRIEND (LOVERS LANE BOOK #1)

4 STARS

51794298. sy475 Synopsis from Goodreads:

A Friends to Lovers Romance

I was nine when I befriended him.
Seventeen when I kissed him.
And eighteen when I threw all dirty thoughts about him in the trash.

Vincent Turner is my bad boy best friend.
I’ve never said no to him.
Even when he asked to copy my homework in high school.
Even when he asked me to be his wing woman.
I’ve seen his girlfriends come and leave.
He’s brought me ice cream after my heartbreaks.
And then it all goes to sh*t.

His filthy rich parents find him a doll to marry.
And he asks me to be his wedding planner.

That eleven-year-old kiss is starting to haunt me.
I’d rather be his wife, not his damn wedding planner.
I’ve never said no to Vincent Turner.
You think now might be a good time to start?

This was my first book from Summer Brooks and it was as adorable as the cover itself. Do you remember people telling us as kids not to judge a book by its cover? Maybe that was because book covers weren't this adorable in the 90's. If you are looking for a cute, fast read, with a side of steamy. This will do. It is also available on Kindle Unlimited.
