ENDLESS KNIGHT (Arcana Chronicles #2) by: Kresley Cole
4.5 Stars
In this seductive follow-up to 'Poison Princess', #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole takes us deeper into the dark world of the Arcana Chronicles.
Shocking Secrets
Evie
has fully come into her powers as the Tarot Empress, and Jack was there
to see it all. She now knows that the teens who've been reincarnated as
the Tarot are in the throes of an epic battle. It's kill or be killed,
and the future of mankind hangs in the balance.
Unexpected Allies
With
threats lurking around every corner, Evie is forced to trust her
newfound alliance. Together they must fight not only other Arcana, but
also Bagmen zombies, post-apocalyptic storms, and cannibals.
Gut-Wrenching Treachery
When
Evie meets Death, things get even more complicated. Though falling for
Jack, she's drawn to the dangerous Endless Knight as well. Somehow the
Empress and Death share a history, one that Evie can't remember—but
Death can't forget
Okay one word to describe this book WOW. Sorry if this review gets a little spoiler-y...hopefully I won't ruin anything for you, but warning read on with caution. This book has done something that I can honestly say has never happened to me before. It has take two solid lead male roles and made me fall in love with them both...and honestly I am a one man kind of gal. Totally Team Edward in Twilight, Team Lucas in Starcrossed, Team Stark in HON, Team Tam in Wings...you get the idea....anyhoo I seriously don't know who I love more the Louisiana Cajun Jack Deveaux or Aric the Death Card. It's strange because before this book I was all Team Jack, but seriously I am as confused as ever, and as good as I usually am at predicting what will happen next I am at a complete loss this time. I guess I will have to patiently await the next installment which unfortunately at this time doesn't have a release date...sigh.
Back to my thoughts on the book: I thought the first book in this series was okay...nothing
stupendous although I really loved the characters. Nothing awful
although there was so much going on with the background that I found it a
little hard to keep everyone straight. (maybe I will reread it to see
if I still feel that way).
The Second book was NOTHING like the
first. I am not sure why the two were so vastly different in my mind,
but I LOVED 'Endless Knight'. My only real complaint is that the book
ended with a bit of a cliff-hanger and lets face it authors love to let
us stew...Evie I felt developed more as a character. Jack was a little more brooding, but still hot, and I actually started to like Serena (in the first book sorry for the French I thought she was a complete bitch). So overall I think that as a whole the book was much better due to the deeper back story and the character development. This is really a series that you should keep your eye on. I look forward to checking out more of Kresley Cole's work. I hear she cooks up a mean romance novel.
TTFN.
